Cork in Lonely Planet Top 10 for 2010
It is a great boost for the greater Cork area that Lonely Planet has listed it as being among its top 10 cities to visit in 2010.
But what will this endorsement mean to the city?
I wouldn't expect a flood of tourists anytime soon, however I do believe it may influence people, for example, in the UK and Germany whom have easy access with direct flights to Cork Airport, to seriously consider Cork for their city break
...And what better location to use as your base than Castlemartyr, only 20 minutes from the city and yet you get to experience a taste of rural Ireland.

Ultra funky and really cool at The Club House
No, I'm not talking about Ken Moore, our Club House manager - this is how lucinda O'Sullivan described our glof club house restaurant & bar.
Ken on the other hand is best described as 'Deise conservative' in style, but he always has a warm welcome for any of our hotel guests or indeed people just passing an hour.

Midleton Food and Drink Festival
Midleton Food & Drink Festival is taking place on Saturday, 12th September. As a Tipperary man, I must admit I was a little surprised to see just how much east Cork has to offer the culinary world with its locally produced fare. I sincerely hope that this festival helps to promote east Cork in culinary terms and highlight its offerings to a national audience, which it deserves.
If you are staying in the area whilst attending the festival, go to www.castlemartyrresort.ie for some special rates or just give the Hotel a call on 021-4219000 and ask for Bryan and I'm sure that I can assist.

You gotta start somewhere!
It is never easy starting anything worthwhile, and Blogs are no different. Just thinking as I start this, isn't it incredible how quickly online communication & online marketing is developing! Almost every hotel now has a Facebook page, a blog, posting images through Flickr and are even communicating through Twitter. Whats next I wonder?
